2008
It is now 2008 and I have been elected as the new President of our group. As times change our group too, is ready for change. Our goals are still the same, but our approach will be different. Our artists are talented, enthusiatic and looking to get their work out into the public eye. I anticipate our bond as a group will grow tighter as we encourage each other to reach beyond our dreams.
In the period of time I have been with this group of women, I have accomplished more than I thought I could. They have advised me and encouraged me. If it was not for this group my business would not be where it is today and for that I thank them! Not to mention I have made some great friends. It's time for me to pay it forward. I hope I can assist and empower you with whatever you need to take your art to the next level.
Many of the women involved in our group are hobbyist. They either have no desire or no time to take their art to the next level, but enjoy the comradary and support of our group.
I invite you to surf our site and watch for our changes as we grow. In fact, why not stop by during one of our meetings and say Hi!
All my best,
Suzanne
President 2008
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Women @ The Edge website!
In the summer of 2006, a core group of women artists began meeting at Metals Edge Studio in Scottsdale, Arizona, and decided that we could bring together like-minded artists that are interested in the business of art, getting support for their own business, and giving support to their fellow artists and the community. We met on a weekly basis organizing our newfound group, establishing a mission statement that would incorporate our common goals, and making plans to open the group up for other artists to become involved. Thanks to Carol Berger-Taylor and Terri Valencia, (co-owners of Metals Edge Studio) for having the foresight to bring us together and form Women @ The Edge.
I was the fortunate one that was elected the first President to this wonderful group of women. We have a great group of active, spirited women that happen to also be very talented artists, who are enthusiastically motivated to make this group a fun learning process for all those involved. One of our many goals is to have group shows for the general public at least four or more times per year; to provide opportunities for the individual members to participate in juried shows and also weekend trunk shows, and to give back to their community. It takes courage to be in the business of art and when one does their art, it is mostly a solitary environment. Our group is for a little bravery, a little shared knowledge, and some company along the way.
Please take the time to enjoy the artists on this website. Look around and if you see something that you like, feel free to contact us. Check our show listings as well; we’d love to meet you! Or, stop by Metals Edge Studio when you have an opportunity!
Warm regards,
Kathy Hunter
President
